Dear Mary Jane,

I'm curious why does cannabis help with such a variety of different symptoms from anxiety, Parkinsons to cancer?

Sincerely, Abigail Van Buren "Abby"

Dear Abby,

The incredible diversity of symptoms that cannabis can alleviate is a result of its interaction with the endocannabinoid system in our bodies. This complex system plays a role in regulating various functions, including mood, pain sensation, appetite, and even immune responses.

The cannabinoids in cannabis, such as THC and CBD, mimic the body's natural endocannabinoids anandamide & 2AG when consumed. They bind to cannabinoid receptors in the brain and throughout the body, influencing the release of neurotransmitters and affecting how cells respond to stimuli.

This interaction is why cannabis shows promise in easing symptoms associated with anxiety, Parkinson's, cancer, and many other conditions. However, while it can offer relief for some, it's essential to understand that its effects can vary from person to person.

If you would like to learn more about the endocannabinoid system I'v include a TedTalk presented by Dr. Racheal Knox below.

Wishing you wellness,

Mary Jane
